How to Easily Get Started with Elder Scrolls Online

Hey there, adventurer! Thinking about diving into Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) but feeling a little overwhelmed? No worries—I’ve got your back! As someone who loves this game (and trust me, it loves you back), let me guide you through the basics so you can start your epic journey.

Yes, there are dragons!

Step 1: Pick Your Platform

First things first—figure out where you want to play. ESO is available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. If you’re on a console, you’ll need the version that matches your setup. Prefer a keyboard and mouse vibe? Go PC!

Step 2: Get the Right Version

For beginners, the base game is perfect. It comes with a TON of content to keep you busy for weeks (or, let’s be real, months). If you’re feeling fancy, you can grab a bundle with extra expansions. Just remember, you don’t need everything to start having fun.

Step 3: Create Your Character

This part is pure magic! You’ll pick your race, class, and alliance. Don’t stress too much—just choose what sounds cool to you. Wanna zap enemies with magic? Go Sorcerer. Prefer smashing things with a giant axe? Dragonknight is your gal. You can always try another character later.

You'll start with 4 character slots unlocked in the base game, you have plenty of room to try out different races, classes, and playstyles! If you want more characters, you can purchase additional slots (up to a total of 8) from the in-game Crown Store.

Step 4: Follow the Tutorial

When you log in, the game starts with a tutorial to teach you the ropes. Pay attention, but don’t feel pressured to memorize everything. ESO is forgiving—you’ll learn as you go. Just don't skip the tutorial, trust me.

Step 5: Start Exploring!

The beauty of ESO is that it doesn’t force you into one path. Want to stick to the main story? Go for it. Feel like wandering into random caves or helping villagers? That works too!

Bonus Tips for Smooth Adventuring

  • Join a Guild: Even if you’re shy, guilds are full of people happy to help newbies.

  • Use the Map: It’s your best friend when figuring out where to go.

  • Don’t Rush: Seriously, take your time soaking in the gorgeous world and its lore.

ESO is all about creating your adventure, so there’s no “wrong” way to play. Just dive in, have fun, and let me know if you need more tips! I’ll be cheering for you in Tamriel. 🛡️✨

Have you played ESO before, or are you just starting out? Let’s chat in the comments!
